Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago state, with its jewel bright islands dotting the blue of the Indian ocean. It shares historic ties with India – though trade and religious interactions which are evident even today. In its island of Bali, the Hindu temples and rituals are often similar to Indian rituals. At Yogyakarta, the world famous Borobudur Buddhist temple and the Hindu temples of Prambanan have Indian mythological stories carved all over. Indonesia has adopted the epic Ramayana as a cultural heritage – and you will be amazed to see some of their traditional dances based on the story of Rama and Sita(pronounced “Sinta” in Indonesia).
But the heritage connection is not all that Indonesia has to offer you. The beaches of Bali with their fine sand, swaying palms, gentle waves and a plethora of activities like body surfing, massage, parasailing, snorkeling and diving in nearby islands, barbequed fresh sea food and restaurants offering cuisine from all over the world – take you pick and have a vacation of your lifetime.
