Ayurveda is a traditional Indian practice of energizing, healing and rejuvenating the human body. At Somatheeram resort, Ayurveda is practiced with total care and sincerity, amidst tranquil backdrop of nature. Accommodation with all modern amenities, is provided in five categories – some traditional mud-brick cottages with thatched roofs, some made of granite, with beautiful carved wood work inside. There are one, two or four bedroom cottages, which can be rented by groups or individually. The view of the ocean in front, the swaying fronds of palms, the peace and quiet of the vast complex all help to sooth your stressed nerves even before you start your special Ayurvedic treatment!

The resort has, on many occasions, won accolades and awards, including that of “The Best Ayurveda center in Kerala” from the state tourism department.

The resort offers various Ayurvedic Treatment packages, usually for 10/ 14/ 21 days. The treatments are very individualistic, depending on your own requirements and as advised by the resident doctors. Various beauty treatments and massages are also carried out on daily programmes. The resort also arranges site seeing trips to near by places like the white Kovalam Beach, the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple of Thiruvananthapuram, backwaters of Alleppy, Cape Comorin. Your evenings are never dull, with rich traditional and folk dance recitals of Mohiniattam, Kathakali and Kalaripayattu.

Specialities from both North and South India are served here, together with Continental and Chinese cuisine. You have a choice of “Ayurvedic” and “Non- Ayurvedic” food and the tasty vegetarian spread might just tempt you to become a vegetarian!
